According to Kazuo Inamori, Japan’s famous management guru, it is important to set goals that exceed your present capabilities. That is to say, at some point in the future you should be determined to achieve a goal that currently seems impossible. This is the method by which Kazuo Inamori worked to improve his own skills and capabilities. It is also a method through which we can leverage our own limitless potential.

In explaining his life experiences, Kazuo Inamori often quotes the Chinese sage Lao-Zi: “Fortune lurks within disaster.” He also uses the game Reversi as an example. In a single turn, all black pieces can suddenly turn to white. It is the same in our lives. Hardship and setbacks are also foundations of future success.
