According to Citigroup Global Chief Analyst Yang Yingchao: “After you come to grips with the reality of your workplace—its cruel truths and responsibilities—the next step is to improve your workplace capabilities.”

First master your primary profession, then foster another

The more tools you have in your toolbox, the more situations you will be able to handle. This is an easy way to improve your market value and ensure continual bumps in your salary.

First have, then refine

When undertaking a task that is large, time consuming, and complex—for example a large research report—don’t let yourself be intimidated by the work at hand, otherwise you will place too much pressure on yourself.

At first, don’t worry about quality. Focus on content, quickly writing your report from beginning to end. At this stage, don’t worry about making mistakes or using mistaken resources. Feel free to skip around as you write. There is no correct order. Once you finish, you will be better off than when you had nothing. Even if all you have is an outline, this will greatly alleviate the pressure that you find yourself under.
